Garlic, Juicing, and Coconut Fruit Smoothies
When we eat, we're either promoting health or promoting disease.
Garlics, leeks, onions and cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage kick cancers' ass!

It's Only Natural...
Our Sages say that He is not in some far away land. He is actively involved in our lives.
I find that loving G-d is something that occurs quite naturally, like a baby reaching for his mother.
oR a bird that leaps into flight...
oR a flower that stretches her petals to bloom...
oR the sun that extends his rays of sunshine...
oR the arms that reaches to touch and hug...
oR a butterfly emerging from her cocoon...
oR a road that naturally winds...
oR a tree that takes root in her soil...
oR the leaves that dance when a breeze passes by...
oR the natural chatter of friends....
oR the spiral turns of curly, kinky hair....
It's only natural....
G-d bless!

Whodunit??
There is something amazing I learned that I just need to mention again.
I guess I find it amazing because I couldn't believe just how ignorant I was.
Everyone talks about how cholesterol is so bad.
"High cholesterol?? Holy shit, run for the hills!"
But if we looked out the window and saw a bunch of cops standing across the street,
we wonder, 'what happened? why are the police here?" We want to know what caused the police
to come in the first place. The police are only there to restore order.
So, cholesterol is the police!!!
Usually, when we hear high cholesterol, folks are put on meds to just remove the cholesterol. It's like trying to shoo away the police without asking why they're there.
When damage to our arteries occur, the body calls the cops. "HELP!! 911!" And cholesterol comes to the rescue, sirens blaring and everything, trying to patch things up.
So, whodunit? If cholesterol isn't the bad guy, who is???
You probably guessed it.
Sugar and starch.
Sugar causes damage to our arteries!!!!! Somebody arrest those assholes!! They're disturbing the peace!!
We need cholesterol. They make up cell walls, they're the forerunners of our sex hormones.
But don't ask me about this stuff. I ain't no expert. Research it y'self!! And always consult with a trusted doctor and naturopath!!
G-d bless!!

Kenya says no to GM Frankenstein Foods
Scientists are upset because Kenya has recently banned GM foods.
Kenyan officials stated that there was a "lack of sufficient information on the public health impact of such foods".
With a rat study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology showing rats developing cancer from eating GM corn, I completely understand Kenya and every single person who reject this man-made 'food.'
Scientists complained that the study was done incorrectly, from the experimental design to the statistical analysis.
Peter Kearns, head of food safety, nanosafety and chemical accidents for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris states," Resolution of the debate over the safety of GM foods can come only from rigorous science clarifying the issues"
So if the issue needs clarification, why push these GM 'foods' down our throats? Down the throats of Africans?
The scientists are upset??
Let'em be upset.

Planned 'Black' Parenthood
Is Planned Parenthood targeting the Black community???
Are there more Planned Parenthood facilities located in African American neighborhoods than in other places???
Well, some Black folks think so.
A group of Black pro-Life supporters gathered in Washington D.C. for a press conference at the National Press Club to take a stand against Planned Parenthood and late term abortions. They were joined by Star Parker, head of Urban Cure. Click here for story.
I highly approve!!
Black folks have to know that there are cunning organizations who try to demise our future and self-esteem through acts of 'charity.' And we have to be on the look out.
Remember the whole eugenics movement?? Wasn't good for us back then, and it's not good for us now.
And mind you that many fast food restaurants, laden with trans fats, rancid oils, poor nutrient, MSG, and who knows what, are found in Black neighborhoods.
Well, that's where the business is....
Maybe.
Maybe not.
We are not a monolith, but being united gives a lot of power...

'da Power of Prevention
I just read a fascinating article about Angelina Jolie and breast cancer on Natural News.
Seriously wanted to fall off my seat.
Angelina Jolie got both breasts surgically removed b/c of a high breast cancer risk. Now per the article, everyone has cancer cells in the their body. And so everyone has a risk. Whether those cells will actually express themselves depends on the lifestyle we chose on a daily basis through factors like nutrition, exercise, getting adequate vitamin D. Now Jolie had a 87% risk. My question is whether most women stats are as high as that...
In terms of nutrition, we know that foods that contain indole 3 carbinol like cabbage, broccoli, and other cruciferous veggies are powerful in cancer prevention. Remember cancer loves sugar. And in these days, sugary foods and drinks abound. So, when we are caught up in our busy day, running to work or school, or taking care of kids, it's very easy to forget this crucial info.
And cabbage and broccoli can definitely be a pain
to eat cuz it may not be as enjoyable as, say a croissant. For some people anyway. But if we start incorporating them in to our diet, we will get used to it. We gotta work it!!
A good thing to remember when we go grocery shopping next time!!!
Prevention is key.
And that doesn't mean going for x-rays every year. It doesn't mean being at the mercy of doctors and the allopathic/ Western medicine. (But even Western medicine has it's place.) It means changing our lifestyle. TODAY!!!
Actively choosing a 'pro-Life' lifestyle puts power back into our hands in terms of remaining healthy. And that is where it belongs.
G-d bless!!

Lovin' Coconut Oil...
Who needs to worry about strange, synthethic chemicals like parabens and sulfates in body lotions and creams??When I put on a lotion, I want my skin soft, and I don't want to worry about anything else.
Enters the coconut.
Aaaah!
Coconut oil works wonders without leaving a greasy feel or a strong smell. And my skin, elbows and knees included, have never felt SO good!!! Also, it strengthens underlying tissues by providing deep and real moistures. And it also contains antiviral, antifungal properties. It's also great for the hair.
And best of all, it's natural! Oh, yeah!

Putting G-d First
In Iyanla Vanzant's video, she talks about putting yourself first because you are the representative of G-d in this world in YOUR life.
This a very powerful message.
And putting oneself first certainly means being healthy, taking care of ones' needs, etc. It reminds me of what is done during the Shabbat Friday night service of Kiddush. Jewish custom during Kiddush is to make blessings over wine to sanctify the day and to testify that G-d, Creator of the world rested on the seventh day/Shabbat. Typically, as the cups of wine are passed around, I was taught to drink the cup that comes to you first, rather than pass it on the next person. Why? When I get a chance to do a mitzvah or Torah commandment, don't pass it up! Do it as fast as possible! That is, take care of yourself first.
I think that is a message that a lot of people would like.
But what are we giving ourselves?
If we are use to junk food, abusive relationships, negative self talk, thinking negatively, unsupportive and condescending friends, etc. etc. that's gonna be a pretty sad story!! Maybe this video is merely an affirmation to continuing giving the self the crap it's been getting, but this time I come first?!!
Oye!!
But certainly not.
We should only give ourselves good. And it's not so hard to figure out what that 'good' is. And believing that good is possible is part of the work.
Well, with work, bills, going to the gym, trying to be the best we can be, connecting with supportive friends, prayer, picking up some items at the health food store, who was time to put others first, second, or third?? Just completing this assignment takes up a lot of time and a lot of energy, doesn't it?? (Do you know how long it is to twist my hair up at night??)
And yet, what about the story of Avraham Avinu when he went to sojourn in the land of Gerar? The king of Gerar, Avimelech had Avraham's wife taken. As punishment, G-d had "restrained every orifice of the household of Avimelech because of Sarah, the wife of Avraham."
Genesis/Bereshit 20:18.
Avimelech, hastily returns Avraham's wife to him and asks Avraham to pray for his healing. And Avraham does. And in the very next chapter, we find that Sarah, who had been barren for years, finally conceived.
From this, our Sages teach us that when we genuinely pray for another, we are answered first.
When we put another person before us, G-d takes note of our humility and not only does He tend to the person being prayed for, but He takes care of the one who prayed FIRST.
So, do I put another person first or not??
I learned from an amazing and wonderful rabbi, Rabbi Shoff the following: It is good to be selfish in the 'self-ful' way. It's important to give ourselves good. But the challenge is including others in that intimate circle we call 'self.' To understand that although I don't need to give every penny and time to my fellow, that sincerely caring and praying for his welfare when he's in trouble is crucial to the fabric of humanity!!
If a fellow is down, lend a hand. And that doesn't mean helping out a drug addict who has years of criminal record in his pocket. It doesn't mean giving hours and hours of time away from one's own children to hear the same old complaint of girlfriend Missy.
There has to be healthy borders.
A Torah Sage named Hillel the Elder once said, "if I am not for myself, then who will be for me? Yet, if I am for myself only, what am I?"
I think when life becomes G-d centered rather than self-centered, it is easier to find that balance. I am not the center of the universe. My wants and whims don't determine everything. There is a bigger picture. Yes, I must take care of myself in appropriate ways, and yes I must take care of others in appropriate ways.
I love hearing Iyanla Vanzant speak.

Believe...
"The fear of G-d/ Hashem is the beginning of knowledge; foolish ones scorn wisdom and discipline. Hear, my child, the discipline of your father, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother. For they are an adornment of grace for your head and a chain for your neck."
Proverbs 1:7-9
We have to believe in ourselves.
We have to believe that we can make a real change.
We have to believe that we can be happy.
We have to believe that the tools are in place for us to learn and to master.
We have to believe that there are people that we can help.
We have to believe that we have what to give.
We have to believe that our apathy causes death and our attention gives life.
We have to believe that there are people who can help, no matter the color.
We have to believe that G-d is talking to us this second.
We have to believe that mistakes don't define us.
We have to believe that sexual abuse and abandonment are not the standards.
We have to believe that what we believe will create the reality. (That is why media tries to control what we see and believe)
We have to believe that G-d wants something from us that is very concrete and attainable.
We have to believe that we each have a specific function to do.
We have to believe that we can succeed.
We have to believe that pain is in place only to wake us up from our sleep. And for us to improve our lives.
We have to believe that reality is not in television or Facebook.
We have to believe that by being healthy-spiritually and physically that we can
accomplish more good and receive more good.
We have to believe that our mind and body is not a garbage dump.
We have to believe that our main happiness comes from G-d and not people.
We have to believe that the hurts from the past are meant to be composted! Fertilizer for something
better and stronger to come out from it, but not get stuck in it.
We have to believe that all our pores are infused with G-dliness.
We have to believe that we are beautiful.
We have to believe that being healthy shows our true beauty.
We have to believe that we are worthwhile and good.
We have to believe that we need to act and to run while doing it.
We have to believe that we can make it happen.
We have to believe that we can make it.
We have to believe
And we have to voice these beliefs in order to start believing.
That is, if we want to believe
