Kenya says no to GM Frankenstein Foods

Scientists are upset because Kenya has recently banned GM foods.

Kenyan officials stated that there was a "lack of sufficient information on the public health impact of such foods".

With a rat study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology showing rats developing cancer from eating GM corn, I completely understand Kenya and every single person who reject this man-made 'food.'

Scientists complained that the study was done incorrectly, from the experimental design to the statistical analysis.

Peter Kearns, head of food safety, nanosafety and chemical accidents for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris states," Resolution of the debate over the safety of GM foods can come only from rigorous science clarifying the issues"

So if the issue needs clarification, why push these GM 'foods' down our throats? Down the throats of Africans?

The scientists are upset??

Let'em be upset.

My Berry Fruity Cherry!

Guess who's in season and looking mighty good.... Oh yeah, cherries, baby!!

Busting with antioxidants, they are bad news for free radicals and good news for us. And cherries also contain queritrin, bio-flavonoids, ellagic acid, and other amazing compounds. Well, what are those exactly?? Well, from being anti-cancer agents to preventing arthritis and gout, they are some pretty heavy-duty, ass-kickin' stuff!!

And gosh darn it, they just look so good!!

Oh, the Love!! the Love!!!

'da Power of Prevention

I just read a fascinating article about Angelina Jolie and breast cancer on Natural News.

Seriously wanted to fall off my seat.

Angelina Jolie got both breasts surgically removed b/c of a high breast cancer risk. Now per the article, everyone has cancer cells in the their body. And so everyone has a risk. Whether those cells will actually express themselves depends on the lifestyle we chose on a daily basis through factors like nutrition, exercise, getting adequate vitamin D.  Now Jolie had a 87% risk. My question is whether most women stats are as high as that...

In terms of nutrition, we know that foods that contain indole 3 carbinol like cabbage, broccoli, and other cruciferous veggies are powerful in cancer prevention. Remember cancer loves sugar. And in these days, sugary foods and drinks abound. So, when we are caught up in our busy day, running to work or school, or taking care of kids, it's very easy to forget this crucial info.

And cabbage and broccoli can definitely be a pain
to eat cuz it may not be as enjoyable as, say a croissant. For some people anyway. But if we start incorporating them in to our diet, we will get used to it. We gotta work it!!

A good thing to remember when we go grocery shopping next time!!!

Prevention is key.

And that doesn't mean going for x-rays every year. It doesn't mean being at the mercy of doctors and the allopathic/ Western medicine. (But even Western medicine has it's place.) It means changing our lifestyle. TODAY!!!

Actively choosing a 'pro-Life' lifestyle puts power back into our hands in terms of remaining healthy. And that is where it belongs.

G-d bless!!

Cabbage and Cru (ciferous) Awareness Month!

What are cruciferous vegetables? They include cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, bok choy, kohlrabi, kale, brussel spoouts and few more.... Research out of the University of Illinois has proven that sulforaphane, an organosulfur found in cruciferous vegetables can help prevent cancer. hat tip to NaturalNews.com G-d bless!! Epigenetics

"Having a "cancer program" in your DNA does not automatically mean you're destined to get cancer. Far from it. This genetic information does not ever have to be expressed..."

"What this all means is that you are not controlled by your genetic makeup. Instead, your genetic readout (which genes are turned "on" and which are turned "off") is primarily determined by your
thOUghts, aTTitUdEs, and PeRcEpTiOnS!"

This reminds me of the great Jewish Chassidic master, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov who emphasized living life with joy and happiness. Now, how each person needs to this may be different.

Growing up in a particular family, neighborhood, culture does not need to determine our future. How important it is to surround one self with positive energy and positive people. Even if that means going against the grain!!

So, in addition to a healthy lifestyle, ie. proper nutrition and exercise, our thoughts and beliefs can really affect our health.

Here is one good thought:

We were created by G-d and being created by Him at every second. Again and again, He wills that we should exist in His world to receive His good. And there is good....

He loves us so much.

G-d bless!!

What the hell?!

What the hell is wrong with us?

What the f$#@ is WRONG with us, people???

People are dropping like freakin' flies, stricken with cancers, stricken with diabetes, stricken with all sorts of shit! (Excuse my French, but I am soo pissed off)

It's actually quite eerie how this phenomenon relates to this week's Torah portion of Vayeira/(And He appeared.) In this reading of the Torah, Moses goes down to Egypt to demand of Pharaoh the freedom of the Hebrew slaves.

Pharaoh refused.

And hence begins the series of plagues that descend upon Egypt causing all sorts of havoc. Water turning into blood, overabundance of frogs, lice epidemic, attack of beasts, etc. Nature goes beserk.

Why?

B/c G-d was trying to say something, and Pharaoh refused to listen.

Well, too many folks around here are getting cancer, my friends. Too many. Too many folks are sick.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month!!! Go get your mammogram. Um, don't the mammograms also have radiation and many times are inaccurate? We have been lulled into a way of negative thinking in that we LOOK for breast cancer rather than prevent it. We adopt harmful methods in order to SPOT it. We are drugged into believing these illness happens, it's terrible but, hey, it happens.

What the f$%^?!!

This is nature gone berserk. I'm sorry.

What's the message here?? There is something in our world that is not flowing.

Is it the poisons like xenoestrogens (synthetic hormones) or MSG in our foods that is creating this energy blockage? Is it the rampant rape and abuse that go on w/o justice?? Is it the over reliance on television and media to debase our values and thwart our minds??? Is it the chronic greed that seeps into our blood stream, hardening our hearts so we don't reach out to our fellow human beings in need??? Is it the life-killing white sugar we eat every day??

You tell me.

What the hell is the problem ova' here??

What is G-d trying to tell us??!!

The holy sparks inside of us knows something is wrong. If we turn off the tv, log off facebook, put the beer bottle down, turn off the cell phone, we may feel the stirrings of these holy sparks.

Kind'a intimidating isn't it??

Yeah, I know.

It is much easier to remain in our comfort zone and refuse to listen and refuse to change. I totally relate to Pharaoh! What, get rid of slaves? Change the world order? Change my habits? Do G-d's will? What the hell??!! I can really relate....Can you?

Well, sorry Pharaoh, but Moses does save the Hebrew slaves. And they save themselves. Some of them did remain behind. The unknown was too scary. To change the status quo....no way.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm sick of Egypt. I'm sick of it.

I want freedom.

for myself and my family and friends

and the whole freakin' planet.

Killing with Chemotherapy

"the medical profession is the number one killing modality on the planet."

"leukemia-easy to cure, particularly in children. Most cancers are easy to cure!"

What a Joke...

I saw the most absurd article on Yahoo Health about cancer prevention.

You can check it out and see for yourselves.

Three advice for cancer prevention:
1. More exercise
I agree with that.

2. An aspirin a day for anti-inflammatory effects.
Aspirin???!!!
You've got to be kidding! They're going to opt for something synthetic rather
than natural? We've got an arsenal ranging from vegetables to spices like curcurim or tumeric to herbs, and they're going to pick aspirin. And they even caution that overuse can cause ulcers.

3. Milk for vitamin D.
It's true vitamin D helps prevent cancers, but to advise milk versus natural sunlight! Super-market milk is loaded with estrogen disrupting hormones that will cause a host of problems. If it's not good for fibroids, it definitely ain't good for cancer.

This is the "expert" advice?? No mention of anything green...
No mention of how too much sugar creates an acidic environment that promotes cancer growth.

Mainstream media and business don't give a wink about our health, y'all, if you haven't already guessed it.
Thankfully, most of the readers who left comments on this article did not agree with the advice given.

And neither should you!

Geez, if this wasn't so serious, I'd crack up laughing.

G-d bless!!

April 16

Did you know that last year Wal-Mart announced that its store-brand milk, Great Value, will only come from dairies that have pledged not to treat its cows with rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone aka rBST)?

Wal-Mart is the lastest of the retailers that are responding to consumer demand and changing its products. Safeway, Inc also changed its store brand milk. Sam's Club will also being offering milk choices from cows not treated with the hormone.

Thank G-d, there are now options.

Conventional, non-organic milk mostly comes from cows treated with rBGH. So, what's the problem?

RBGH/Posilac is an animal drug manufactured by Monsanto. It's injected into cows to increase milk production. Treated milk has "higher levels of the hormone insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). IGF-1 is one of the most powerful growth hormones in the human body and is naturally present in cows' milk."
There have been evidence showing that a link b/w rBGH and breast, colectoral, and prostate cancer.

Check out the Harvard study:
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/279/5350/563

Not only that, injected cows get mastitis infections which are treated with antibiotics. The antibiotics doesn't just go away, folks. We become more anti-biotic resistant-which causes other problems!

RBGH is banned in the European Union, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

This cancer link prompted the "American Nurses Association to call for the elimination of rbGH in dairy production. The American Medical Association's past president urged hospitals to serve only rbGH-free milk, and over 160 hospitals have already pledged to do so. Schools nationwide have also banned drugged milk."
(I'm hoping these include schools in African American neighborhoods...)

I am thrilled for retailers like Wal-Mart and organizations that are making changes. Since last year, Starbucks have been only using rBGH free milk!

There is still more work to be done.

On April 3, a bill was passed in Kansas. Milk products that are from non-injected cows will be labeled as such. OK. Here's the catch: In the similar font and size will be an accompanying label stating "The FDA has determined that no significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rbGH-supplemented and non-rbGH-supplemented cows."

Is that really true?
"Studies normally used to determine whether a drug is carcinogenic will test two different species for about two years--the lifetime of mice or rats. But Monsanto tested rbGH on rats for 28 or 90 days. FDA official John Scheid later admitted to the Associated Press that the agency had never actually examined the raw data from Monsanto's rat feeding study; rather they based their conclusions on a summary provided by Monsanto."

Check out http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-smith/fda-promotes-unsafe-milk_b_184886.html

This can cause a lot of confusion in consumers.

There have been 29 groups writing letters to Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebilius (who was chosen by Obama to become Secretary of Health and Human Services) to veto the bill.

The deadline to veto this bill is April 16.

Here's a copy of the letter:
http://www.consumersunion.org/pub/core_food_safety/010910.html

Consumer protest IS effective. It has made changes already, and it can do MORE. Not just for us but for future generations.

You can take action by either writing a letter to Governor Sebilius or sending an email via website http://www.responsibletechnology.org/GMFree/TakeAction/GovernorSebilius/index.cfm

Vitamin D: Benefits

Part II

Dr. Holick went to visit a woman in a hospital. The woman had a lot of bone pain, muscle pain and aches. She couldn't even walk. Dr. Holick recognized the problem right away. The lady was African American suffering from adult rickets: softening of the bones. He put her on a therapy of vitamin D and sun exposure. And, in fact, in a month/two, the lady was able to walk with a walker.

Here's something else.

African Americans have the highest death rate of any racial and ethnic group in the U.S. for most cancers," said Otis W. Brawley, M.D., American Cancer Society chief medical officer.

And YET, research is showing that vitamin D helps lower the risk of many cancers including prostate, breast, and colon. The Cancer Recovery Foundation claim that vitamin D helps reduce certain cancer by 77%. The Vitamin D Council goes so far as to say that prostate cancer IS a vitamin D deficiency that people just are not aware of!

I really wanted to understand this.

Bursting forth from the hot sun are invisible rays: UVA, UVB, and UVC. The UVB ray is considered the "burning" ray, but it also causes our bodies to make vitamin D.

So, I'm outside. The UVB ray hits my skin, and a flurry of activity begins. A certain type of cholesterol goes through a series of transformation that results into an active form of vitamin D. (It's D3)

And why exactly do I want this?

It definitely makes us feel good. And as we're learning, vitamin D helps with calcium absorption. It helps regulate melatonin-the hormone that causes us to fall asleep. But the really amazing part is that it helps regulate cell growth, in the prostate, breast, colon, and other tissues. And that may be why vitamin D helps combat cancer. (B/c cancer is growth out of control)

Unfortunately, many African Americans are deficient in vitamin D. The NHANES(National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) found that among African American women in their child-bearing years, 42% were vitamin D deficient. (Next was Mexican Americans, and then Caucasions who were low by only 4%.

Well, considering that African Americans have a natural barrier called melanin against the sun, and that SPF can block up to 95% of UV rays, it's understandable why many of us may be vitamin D deficient.

However, despite the benefits of sunlight, many of us shy away from it...

Battle of the Raging Hormones

I'm at war.

I'm at war with people who think, for some odd reason that I need more hormones, ie. estrogen. Excuse me!!! G-d made me just fine! Nonetheless, you've got companies injecting stuff like bovine growth hormone(BGH 1), insulin-like growth factor (IGF 1) into milk and xenoestrogens into pesticides for one.

And the poor cows. Dairy companies demand more yield of milk, so the cows are injected with BGH 1and IGF-1 that sort of supersize their mammary glands-which, I'm sorry just is not natural. Indeed, many of these cows get sick and require antibiotics. So, add some antibiotics into the mix!!

In modern dairy farms, because cows are milked even when they are pregnant, there are 33 x more of estrogen compound than in a non-pregnant cow.

So, what's so bad about some more hormones in the milk anyways? What's the big deal? What do do you want from my life???!!!

Hmm....

where shall I start...?

Insulin growth hormone1and bovine growth hormone1 are similar and are related to growth of breast cancer cells.

"IGF-I is critically involved in the aberrant growth of human breast cancer cells." M. Lippman. J. Natl. Inst. Health Res., 1991,

Excess estrogen has been linked to increase in certain cancers.

Xenoestrogens which are basically imposter estrogen hormones that are put in pesticides and other products causing a toxic form of estrogen to be produced in the body leading to all sorts of problems. Can someone say uterine fibroids? Cervical cancer? Depressed thyroid function?

Need I say more?! (Uterine fibroids really hit home for me. )

So who says I need milk and cereal for breakfast? Who says I need a grilled cheese or Mac-n-cheese for lunch? Who says I need to stuff myself with junk?
Who says?

Next time for breakfast, I"ll try some old fashioned oatmeal. And for lunch, I"ll have some grilled chicken. Is this the end of milk drinking? And what about calcium? I'll address these topics abit later. Each thing at it's proper time.

Anyways, like I said I'm at war.

But changing how I eat and more importantly how I think is really tough! I can't say I've got all the answers, but I don't want to be stupid!! As they say, "knowing is half the battle."

G-d bless!
