The Doctors

I went to my friend's house the other day to get my hair re-braided. I admit I was excited b/c she has a TV, and I could now watch some shows that I haven't seen for a while, ie. Oprah.

Anyways, I got to watch a tv show called The Doctors. It consisted of four doctors discussing health issues and offering advice, etc. There was an ER physician, a gynecologist, a pediatrician, and a plastic surgeon. Pretty comprehensive, hunh?

Granted, they talked about a lot of interesting topics, ie. vaccination, obesity, etc. It was fascinating. However, I think it would be much better for people watching if the panelist didn't only consist of allopathic doctors. Allopathic is western science. Western science deals a lot with pathology-finding diseases/problems.

Imagine a show that also includes naturopathic doctors. Naturopathic medicine deals with prevention of illness and employs more natural remedies.

People would get a broader view of issues that concern them and therefore have more options. Indeed, in the show, there was a guest physician condemning vaccinations. (I personally have no opinion on the matter; I haven't learned enough about it). But it was basically several allopathic minds against this lone voice. The issue didn't seem really fairly presented. What would a naturopathic doctor have said on the matter?

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for allopathic medicine. When there's illness or problems in the body, it can save your life. My own family members have been saved from really bad suff, like cancer. And in fact, there seems to be a movement that combines both allopathic and naturopathic medicines-which is how it should be!

Well, I won't be seeing another episode for another couple of months, until my next hair appointment that is. If anyone knows about a show that includes both kinds of medicines, I'd love to know about it.

G-d bless!
