Please pass the Meat Glue....

Another reason why we should buy organic meat and only eat home-cooked food....

We know this is all about making more money.

At the expense of our health.

Be aware at how deep the rabbit hole goes as to how far the Food Industry, the FDA, and a whole lot of money-hungry minds will go

for an extra buck....

how can this 'naturally occurring' substance resist heat?

Gimme a break. Ain't nothin' natural about this.

Reminds of the R. Nachman story The Simpleton and the Sophisticate...

This is sophisticate and disgusting!

G-d bless!

USDA Organic

"What does certified organic or "USDA Organic" mean? This means these products are certified 95-100% organic. Certified organic means the farmer or producer has undergone a regular inspection of its farm, facilities, ingredients, and practices by an independent Third Party certifier, accredited by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP)"

So if you're looking for spoonful of synthetic pesticides, animal drugs, sewage sludge, GMOs, irradiation, or chemical fertilizers, this is not the place to look!

That said, have I personally taken a tour of USDA facility? No. Have you? No.
Read up on the dark side of USDA: http://www.naturalnews.com/031783_USDA_nature.html

Making things from scratch and keeping things simple is always THE BEST way to go. Yes, it may take a bit longer and it may even require growing our own produce. But we have to know how to work around healthy eating. Healthy eating is living!!!

So, I'm all for USDA to a degree. What I really want is Chaya Organic; I want 'You' Organic. Y'know what I'm sayin'??

G-d bless!!!

An Apple A Day

In Hebrew, the word for apple is TaPuAch HaAiTz-apple of the tree. And the word for potato is TaPuaAch HaADaMa-apple of the land.

And sure enough, these are "apples" that people eat quite frequently. With apple's anti-oxidant powers and potatoes' vitamin C, B6, and health promoting phytochemicals it's not hard to see why.

Yet these favored apples when conventionally grown have more pesticides than other fruits and vegs.

"Don't panic 'cuz I'm organic!"

It would be ideal to get all our produce organic. However, if it's a financial strain, know that most plant food contain less pesticides than animal food b/c there is less accumulation. There are some produce like avocados and cabbage that don't even necessarily need to be purchased organic.

But let's shop 'smart'. And that doesn't only mean saving dollars and shekels. It means also saving our health. So, if we favor apples, whether they grow on trees or grow from the ground, let's opt for the organic kind and encourage others to do so as well.

Less pesticides.

More life.

G-d bless!

(Note that potatoes are nightshade vegetables. That is, these veggies (like eggplant and tomatoes) can pull out calcium from the bone. So if someone is not consuming dairy products go easy on 'dem potatoes)

Foods Safe to Buy Non-Organic

Organic foods are more nutritious than non-organic foods. A recent study found that organic produce contain 40% more anti-oxidants and were better in fighting cancer. Produce like apples, celery, peppers, lettuce usually have high amounts of pesticides and should be bought organic.

Certain produce however do carry a low pesticide load and are safe to eat non-organic when conventially grown. They are:

Broccoli
Eggplant
Cabbage
Banana
Kiwi
Asparagus
Sweet peas (frozen)
Mango
Pineapple
Sweet corn (frozen)
Avocado
Onion

*Avoid any GM "foods".

G-d bless!

"Green Eyes"

There I was in the health food store, among the aisles, as innocent as can be. It was a hot afternoon-the kind of day where everyone stays indoors during the noon hours. I really needed to get some grub and so braved the hot sun. And although the store was quite empty, I could feel someone's eyes on me.

It didn't matter if I moved to the left or the right. It didn't matter if I ventured towards the rice noodles, the Eco-friendly detergent, or even the perplexed saleslady, the eyes were riveted on me. Green "eyes" on a green "body". Watching me quite boldly, I must say. Behind it's clear, plastic wrappings, stood this lettuce, dark green and ORGANIC!!! I peered back, and held it's gaze for long time. It had the same shape as regular lettuce... I inched closer and poked it. Firm. Full.

Mesmerized, I seized this green wonder and took it home!!! (after paying of course..)

Would we get along, I wondered? After all, I wasn't familiar w/ ORGANIC lettuce. I knew that it would have lots of vitaminerals (vitamins and minerals), like vitamin A, K, and folate and less pesticides...

In fact, I did find this particular lettuce w/ it's thick leaves to be abit bitter. Oh, woe!!! I lamented. Organic wonderful, but bitter??!! Was this some cruel joke?!! How was I supposed to down this??!! Or expect to serve it to others?

So, the lettuce and I had a...ahem conversation.
"How can we make this work?" "What are your needs?" "I'm only accustomed to non-organic kinds of lettuce. What is YOUR personality like?" "What if you were allowed to sit abit in a lovely dressing of olive oil and lemon. To pamper yourself for abit, take in your new surroundings....

Lo and behold, after sitting in a glass bowl for a while, next to fellow cucumbers, red peppers, and avocados, yes, reader, this organic green wonder and I DID get along. The juices of the other veggies had lulled the bitter taste out from the leaves, resulting in a happy and contented lettuce, and a hapy and contented...me!

In fact, this organic lettuce and I realized we actually had a lot of commmon friends and similar outlooks on a lot of things. ie. Modern farming methods can really strip away vitaminerals in foods, (which nonone is going to mention) and that folks should eat organic whenever they can and eat it often!!! (locally grown veggies is best!) and we gotta know how to work it!!!

G-d bless!!!
