Choose Life

The terrorist group Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel for years.

What is Hamas?? Does Hamas represent the majority Arab population??

We know that Hamas and other terrorist groups generate fear and terror into not just the Jewish nation but also their own people.

I recently saw a video where Hamas crashed a Palistinian wedding party b/c music was playing. They beat up the groom and caused so much havoc. And I ask myself... Do the Arab people really support this??? Are the Saudi Arabians, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, the Syrians, the Iranians and the host of other peoples that make up the Arab world really glad that the rule of terror is the rule of the land?? Is this their Islam in action??

That a bride and groom couldn't even rejoice their personal union and victory with friends???

I hear people say, that the Arab is a "wild ass" of a man. Well, I hear people say that all Black people come from Ham and are cursed. Is this the reality??? Isn't there a free choice to be a better person or are we all cursed and stuck?? These are words taken from our holy Tanach/Bible and twisted by low-self esteem kind of folks to keep others down.

If we insist on focusing on the Arabs as a wild ass, then we are making this our reality with all its consequences. We are sending a spiritual energy into every crevices of reality to make this idea become true. For us and for them.

R. Nachman writes that when we are beset by judgment, the way to mitigate judgment is by judging oneself. Then there is no need for the Heavenly Court to judge us b/c the job is already being done. No one is perfect. This crazy world has a lot of challenges. As Jews we have to make a living, raise our children, pay taxes, improve on our character traits, full fill the commandments (it's not just 10 either!) and be a light unto the nations. Yes, we took on this responsibility. It ain't easy being a Jew.

But we have to push more. Because people need each other. And people need to be built up. Not broken down. And certainly not killed physically or spiritually.

If in the recesses of our mind or in the inner chambers of our homes, we lose sight of our position and role and belittle the Arab nation or Blacks, or ANY OTHER GROUP, then we are not full filling our roles. Because just like we have holy sparks, every single one of these groups also have holy sparks to elevate and to celebrate.

Every single one. Every one wants to live.

I saw a picture of an Arab woman dressing her little son into a terrorist outfit. Is this sane??? What mother sincerely wants to send her children out to war to possibly die??? It goes against a natural human instinct. So why do it??

I'll ask another question. Why would an abused child grow up to become an alcoholic and continually poison his /her body???

I believe there is a deep deep deep level of low self-esteem going on here. Why else would people gravitate towards death?? They have nothing to live for?

Now, in this current war with Hamas, Israel cannot afford to put down her weapons and send therapists into Gaza to mend old emotional wounds. That would be ridiculous. The evil Hamas that chokes up life for Jews and for Arabs must be eradicated and eliminated once and for all. B/c anything that wants to kill life is essentially un-G-dly.

"Choose life!" This is what the Torah tells us.
A plan needs to be implemented within ourselves to
1. see the Arab peoples for who they really are: a holy nation created by G-d.
2. and to make an outreach to teach them the Noahide Laws. Y'see, the whole world doesn't need to be Jewish. But to believe in our Creator and to live happy and moral lives, yes!!! Who doesn't want this??

G-d is loving and kind. If Hamas believed that would they really be killing people??? What kind of G-d do they believe in?? G-d wants us to choose life for ourselves and for others. Who doesn't want that?? G-d wants us to be joyous in His world. The world was created so He can give us good.

This is where the Seven Noahide Laws come in.

Now perhaps the mighty nations in the Arab world will insist that they have their own religion, Islam and say, 'thanks but no thanks.' They know more of the Koran than I.

Does it encourage life?? Is there love?? Is there mercy?? Is there kindness??? Is there comfort?? Is there forgiveness?? Is there repentance?? Is there respect for life?? For the lives of all the people that God has created?? Does it encourage growth in one's character?? Does it tie the Arab people to the rest of the world as a family?? Is there joy?? Is there space for others to thrive?? Is it inclusive?? Does one feel safe?? Is there justice as opposed to cruelty?

I believe that today we need more Noahide communities across the globe. Because it will then link more people to the kind of G-d that we, Jews have:  a loving, kind, merciful, and powerful G-d.  The Laws are there to ensure a moral society. Because when there is morality, there is life.

The good Arab peoples need to rebel against Hamas and other terrorist groups. These groups only want death. This is their slogan. "We love death more than the Jews love life." Death for themselves and everyone.

Every single being knows that it is wrong. And yet these killers are also coloring a horrible picture of the Arab nations as a whole. That the good Arab peoples would allow them this evil is wrong.

It is known that the Arab world stems from Ishmael, the son of our forefather Avraham. Avraham's attribute was kindness. For the Arab nations to allow terrorism to rule is an affront to their forefather's legacy! They are much higher than this! Why are they choosing a degraded position as the haters of Jews and the breeders of terrorists??

Yitzack was chosen to continue the line of the Jewish people. Yes. And The Holy Land was promised to the Jewish people. Because the Jews have a specific function. But it does not negate the holiness and the special ness of Ishmael.

When Avraham and Sarah spent years unable to concieve, Sarah suggested that Avraham build the Jewish nation through Hagar. So Avraham married Hagar, and Ishmael was born. However, the Jewish line would continue only from the offspring of Sarah. Hagar was sent away, but in his love, Avraham prayed for Ishamel his son, and God promised to make him a great nation.

A GREAT nation. Not the 'Jewish' nation. A great OTHER nation.

In fact, when Sarah Imenu passes away, who does Avraham go to marry?? He re-marries Hagar! There is a deep connection.  And he remains involved in Ishamael's life. And we see a transformation in both Hagar and Ishmael.  Firstly, our Sages teach us that Ishmael repents. Secondly, we learn that Hagar changes her name to Ketura because her deeds have changed and improved. Ketura means the sweet smelling incense that comes from the offering in the Beit Hamikdash/The Holy Temple. When Hagar changed herself, it is like she killed her old self to become this higher being. It is like she killed the coarser side of herself/the 'wild ass'/ the Hamas.

Her role was not to be the mother of the Jewish nation. Her role was to be the mother of the mighty Arab nation. Her role was to be Avraham's wife at a certain point in history. Her role was to rise from her old identity, from her old habits, from her old ways of thinking, from her old religion and to become spiritually higher and spiritually stronger. To become more connected to Avraham and essentially to God.

Starting over is not simple. It is very humbling. And it takes tremendous work and patience. But both Ketura and Ishmael has the strength and the resolve to take that step and to turn their lives around. By doing so, they have infused this gift and power into their descendants, making it possible for today's Arab people to do the same!!

This is the direction that we need to go, where Ketura and Ishamel connect to Avraham and his line of descendants in a positive and loving way. But this requires changing ourselves. It requires the Jews viewing Arabs as a  righteous people. It requires the Arab people removing this terrorism from their hearts and attaching to Truth. What a powerful connection: The children of Avraham making space for one another and choosing life!

Please pass the Meat Glue....

Another reason why we should buy organic meat and only eat home-cooked food....

We know this is all about making more money.

At the expense of our health.

Be aware at how deep the rabbit hole goes as to how far the Food Industry, the FDA, and a whole lot of money-hungry minds will go

for an extra buck....

how can this 'naturally occurring' substance resist heat?

Gimme a break. Ain't nothin' natural about this.

Reminds of the R. Nachman story The Simpleton and the Sophisticate...

This is sophisticate and disgusting!

Junks or Jewels...

So, it's like food....

Is having a healthy sexual life bland and tasteless??

Just like healthy eating brings vitality, power, and strength to the body, so will a healthy
sexual life...

Healthy is what gives life.

Unhealthy is what takes away life; like the junks

like porn, like masturbation, like sex outside of marriage, like spilling seed, like insensivity towards
ones spouse,

In every nook and corner, you'll read how it is good and helpful to release tension by pleasuring oneself, exploring oneself or what have you. This is what everyone says.

But the Torah says otherwise.

Hey, why you trying to control my life???

Is G-d trying to control your life? That's the great fear. But actually, far from it. In His love, G-d provides advice so that we can CHOOSE the jewels and stay far away from the junks that lead to spiritual nail fungus, diabetes, and cancer...

Get the picture?

And. well, golly do Jews have sex?? Do Noahides??

Listen, G-d doesn't tell a person not to eat b/c it's part of our makeup. We need to eat. And He's not telling us not to have sex. The Torah actually stresses the importance of marriage. In Genesis (2:18 ) it's written ,"it is not good that man be alone." When men and women are unmarried, they are more prone to fall into nasty habits like masturbation and spilling seed.  The seeds implanted in wo/man have a divine source, like everything in the world.

And is not meant to be thrown away for fleeting pleasure.

So, then what?? Are we doomed to hush our flaming passions into the somber chambers of a religious institution and watch forlornly as all our sexuality and spirit are squeezed out of us,  turning us into bland and dull-eyed monks??

Wouldn't you like to think so?

But if the question is never asked of what we SHOULD be doing, then yes, it will seem like it.

Just like how healthy eating at first seems like a cruel death for our taste buds!!

But it's not really death is it?? It's actually life.

And it can taste good.

First, we need a healthy dose of curiousity to hear what G-d has to say about sexuality in the Torah....

G-d bless!!!

Junks or Jewels...?

It's like food.

Everyone likes food. Good tasting food.

Once upon a time, I use to indulge in chocolate candy bars, pastries, chips, white flour
stuffage, and all sorts of dairy treats without any second thoughts and without any qualms. At that time it tasted great, it still does, but where did it leave me??

Food have legacies. And these food stuffs left behind a legacy of painful menstrual cramps, persistent
nail fungus, and weak knees!!! Where's the good taste of that chocolate candy bar in the throes of my
period while I'm moaning and groaning in pain??? No where, cuz this junk food is fleeting, has no real lasting value and is as the name suggests: junk!!!

Today, I have left a lot of those 'teenager' type foods behind, but can I really be happy for the 'good old days?'
Not really.  Thankfully, the cramps have been greatly reduced since cutting out dairy from my diet.
My cycle seems to be getting back to normal. The nail fungus seems under control. And my knees are getting

Had I known then what I know now....

But back then the idea of 'healthy eating'seemed so restrictive and horrifying. Why eat tree bark when I could have candy bars?!  Why eat bland food??!

I humbly realize that back then I simply had no genuine interest in healthy food and therefore never delved into it and never asked real questions. I simply did not want it.

Today, I am nuts for healthy eating!! My spirit soars when my fridge is full with brown rice, lentils, beans, lettuce basil, parsley, beets, various nutty treats like hazel nuts and almonds, an assortment of spices like tumeric, cumin, garlic, and oregano, my coconut and olive oils.

How I RELISH healthy eating!! And it tastes soooooooo good.....

And what legacies do these jewels leave behind??? They include strong immune systems, healthy and oxygenated cells, supple tissues and glowing skin, an efficient liver, a happy and healthy heart, regular bowel movements, strong and functional kidneys, increased energy,

the list goes on....

Why would anyone choose junks over jewels as a legacy???

We are in the information age! Everywhere you turn, there's a laptop, an iphone, a blackberry. Just facebook or twitter and you know what is going on. Information is everywhere... So, let's get in 'da know.

And what is the TRUE knowing??

"The fear of G-d/Hashem is the beginning of knowledge; foolish ones scorn wisdom and discipline. Hear my child, the discipline of your father and do not forsake the teaching of your mother." {proverbs/mishlei 1:7-9)

Bill Gates and Family Planning

"The world today has 6.8 billion people... that's headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent. "
(http://www.naturalnews.com/029911_vaccines_Bill_Gates.html) Introducing the Bill and Melinda Gates Family Planning in Africa
Do these guys REALLY care about African women?? Somehow I doubt it.

Alkalinize Your Mind....

G-d bless!!!

Alkalinize Your Mind...

This post is not to introduce another diet. It's here only to remind us of what we already know and what we are striving for...

When we eat, the foods are digested by the body and can leave either an acid residue or alkalinic one. Foods that typically create an acidic environment are grains meat milk fish< etc> Foods that leave an alkalinic residue include fresh fruits and vegetables. An excessive acidic environment can lead to illness. And with the change of the American Standard Diet's over reliance on white flour bread and such, this is problematic.

I am not a vegetarian, and the goal here is to make sure we are eating foods in a balanced way that also includes those fruits and veggies that will keep our internal environment on the right level/ph. FYI: our blood is slightly alkalinic, so it's clear what kind of foods that will keep us healthy.

Yet, another reason to down those veggies and fruits.

It's Just Berry Schizandra....

A new addition to my herb list: The schizandra berry!

Used for thousands of years in China, this berry is known as an adaptogen.

What is an adaptogen?? It redirects the body from an extreme state to a balanced state. That is why if you're feeling either sluggish or too hyped up, schizandra can help to wake you up or calm you down.

"It has remained one of the most popular adaptogenic herbs in China, where it is taken to promote mental function, strengthen the sex organs, and beautify the skin, according to Off the Shelf Natural Health by Mark Mayell."

You can order dried berries online or find them in health food stores.

White Rice Blues

I didn't want to believe it, but it seems to be true.

When I eat white rice, the next day I have pain in knee joints.

Ok, cut out the bread and now cut out the rice?!

I seriously need to change my staple.

Quinoa is an option. Millet is not so appealing to me. Brown rice is also an option.

Soaking quinoa and brown rice shouldn't be a drag. This is what people use to do in 'dem old days. Today, it seems like such a burden to think ahead to soak the grains to remove phytic acid. (which otherwise can carry away minerals like calcium)

I don't need to panic. I just need to keep it simple and let things flow.

This is the key.

I want to try 2 weeks of no white rice.

To increase herbal tea of Horsetail/(equisetum arvense), which contain silica. It's known to repair bony tissues and help form stronger bones and tendons.  Eat more oatmeal and hunt around for some oat straw/avena sativa which is known to be calcium rich. Oatmeal and almonds make a powerful punch! Definitely incorporate more fish and more greens into my week's diet.

Bones love exercise. So, I'm going to make it my biz to walk more-during the hours before and after 11am- 2pm. Y'know gotta get  some o' that vitamin D on my side!!

And then see how I feel...

The challenge is on...

Chai Juicin' and Smoothin' Awareness Month: Beets

Face it, y'all.

Hashem/G-d filled the world with life-building foods that can give us energy, make us beautiful, and more importantly keep us healthy.

And one way of making sure those vitamins and minerals are consumed quick and easy is through juicing.

20 minutes and the nutrients are already in our system.

Today, I am relishing the beetroot.

Packed with folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin B complex, beta-carotene, amino acids, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and many more nutrients, this is the veggie to juice!!

It lowers blood pressure, helps blood circulation and the absorption of iron. As well, it improves liver, kidney and bladder functioning and helps in digestion. Beets hates free radicals and destroys them as well boosting stamina. It's a natural remedy for sexual weakness, kidney/bladder stones...

"Having a "cancer program" in your DNA does not automatically mean you're destined to get cancer. Far from it. This genetic information does not ever have to be expressed..."

"What this all means is that you are not controlled by your genetic makeup. Instead, your genetic readout (which genes are turned "on" and which are turned "off") is primarily determined by your
thOUghts, aTTitUdEs, and PeRcEpTiOnS!"

This reminds me of the great Jewish Chassidic master, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov who emphasized living life with joy and happiness. Now, how each person needs to this may be different.

Growing up in a particular family, neighborhood, culture does not need to determine our future. How important it is to surround one self with positive energy and positive people. Even if that means going against the grain!!

So, in addition to a healthy lifestyle, ie. proper nutrition and exercise, our thoughts and beliefs can really affect our health.

Here is one good thought:

We were created by G-d and being created by Him at every second. Again and again, He wills that we should exist in His world to receive His good. And there is good....

He loves us so much.

Male Health: Prostate and Saw Palmetto

In this video, they give 5 tips for prostate health:
1. watch your diet (Avoid refined foods and eat more fruits and vegetables)
2. exercise
3. drink plenty of water during the day to flush out toxins
4. limit intake of fluids, esp. caffeinated drinks at night
5. ***they recommend taking a supplement*** But if we can avoid drugs why not?? The same natural ingredients that are processed into drug form can be taken in its natural form.

Saw Palmetto berries is THE herb known to protect the prostate by preventing testosterone from converting into the problematic dihydrostestosterone (DHT)

It also increases the tone of the bladder, allowing a more complete expulsion of the contents. It nourishes the nervous system and aids the assimilation of nutrients. When used regularly, it can influence the entire male reproductive system.

It's not enough to just relieve symptoms, we want to be healthy individuals and adopt healthy lifestyle practices. Taking Saw Palmetto extract or drinking the herb tea should become part of one's routine. (As well as the other tips mentioned above)

Pray for Everything!!

Hat tip to Azamra.org

Pray for everything

You must pray for everything. Even if your garment is torn and you need another, you should pray to God to give you something to wear.

Do this for everything: make it a habit to pray for all your needs, great or small. Your main prayers should be for fundamentals: that God should help you to serve Him and draw closer. Even so, you should also pray for minor things.

God may give you food and clothing and everything else you need in life even without your asking for them. However, you are then like an animal. God provides all living creatures with their food. But if you do not draw your needs through prayer, your livelihood is like that of an animal. A man must draw his vitality and all his needs from God only through prayer.

Is it beneath your dignity to pray even for something minor? You must pray for everything, even the most minor things.

What's in My Girly Bag? Raspberry Leaf

Don't leave home without it!

A woman steps out of her house, and you can be sure she is generally equipped with her girly tools to keep herself in check: a lip-gloss, a tampon/pad, a mirror, etc.

It's crucial, however, to make sure that our girly bag contains the tools that will keep us beautiful and vibrant in our 'insides' as well. Like what for example? Every girl should make sure to have some raspberry leaf to brew an herbal tea.

Ok, so maybe we're not literally carrying it outside, but it a must for every woman's 'girly' bag!!

What's the 411?

It is known for strengthening and toning the female (and male) reproductive organs. It's useful also in regulating menstruation.

The plant tones and relaxes the pelvic and uterine muscles. Full of many vitaminerals, it's high in calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and vitamins B, C, and E.

It is THE herb for pregnant women and is generally recommended safe for use during the entire pregnancy.

This wonderful herb does not produce any residual side effects.

This is definitely a much needed addition to any girl-ie bag!!

Dress Code in Nigeria

A well-written and fascinating article about a bill in Nigeria to regulate dress code and sexual harassment of women:

hat tip to Africa Unchained.

One point that jumped out at me, "If the Bill had passed, large communities would have been forced to re-adjust their socio-cultural perspective to one which sexualises states of nudity or semi-nudity"

This said b/c many women in rural areas wear minimal clothing.

It reminded me of Adam and Chava (Eve) before eating of the fruit of good and evil were in a pure state and were not disturbed by their nakedness...

The Grease on Canola

So, I'm standing at the supermarket checkout one day...

I noticed the lady behind me placing quite a few bottles of canola oil on the counter.

I glanced at the checkout lady.

She didn't seem disturbed.

I glanced back at the lady behind me, a bit agitated. My first impulse was to yell, 'put those bottles back! they're unhealthy!'

I bit my lip.

Yes, I did. To my great shame. B/c I realized I didn't know exactly WHY it was bad, but I did remember reading something....what was that?

So, I perused my resources to find out the real grease on canola.

Firstly canola oil was once extracted from rapeseed. However b/c the oil contained a toxc eurcic acid, it was banned by the FDA in 1956. In later years, a new variety was bred that contained much less acid was produced.

So, according to canolainfo.org, "canola, however, is NOT rapeseed - their nutritional profiles are very different."

Rapeseed is the highest-producing oil-seed crop in the USA.

According to canolainfo.org, "fats and oils, such as canola, play an essential role in human nutrition. Fat is part of every cell in the body, a valuable source of energy, aids in absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as beta-carotene, and slows digestion so that you feel full for a longer period."

It is true that fat is part of every cell. What they don't say is that in the process of deodorizing the oil, many
trans-fats are made. The body mistakenly uses the trans fats as if they were the real (cis) fats, and this is when havoc begins. Cell metabolism goes awry resulting in conditions like increased blood cholesterol, sexual dysfunction, paralysis of the immune system, diabetes, obesity and other problems.

ok, now I know.

So, I'm standing at the supermarket checkout one day....

Toe Nail Fungus...

If we're suffering from toe nail fungus, it is NOT fun.

Fungus is persistent and tough to beat.

Looking through health websites, you'll find a lot of home remedies like tea tree oil, Vicks Vapor Rub, vinegar and the sorts.

Well, according to Chinese Medicine, all these remedies are only treating the symptoms and are NOT getting to root cause. "The root cause of nail fungus is a Liver energy imbalance..."

Our liver stores blood, and this blood nourishes many areas of our bodies, including our nails. So toe nail fungus is like a blaring sign that says, "there's an energy problem in the liver!!!"

B/c our liver is so crucial, we need to really go in depth. Stay tuned...

Until then, know that herbs that really help support the liver include dandelion root and milk thistle-all which can be bought at a health food store/herb store.

It's worth it fighting the fungus from the inside and out....

What the hell?!

What the hell is wrong with us?

What the f$#@ is WRONG with us, people???

People are dropping like freakin' flies, stricken with cancers, stricken with diabetes, stricken with all sorts of shit! (Excuse my French, but I am soo pissed off)

It's actually quite eerie how this phenomenon relates to this week's Torah portion of Vayeira/(And He appeared.) In this reading of the Torah, Moses goes down to Egypt to demand of Pharaoh the freedom of the Hebrew slaves.

Pharaoh refused.

And hence begins the series of plagues that descend upon Egypt causing all sorts of havoc. Water turning into blood, overabundance of frogs, lice epidemic, attack of beasts, etc. Nature goes beserk.

B/c G-d was trying to say something, and Pharaoh refused to listen.

Well, too many folks around here are getting cancer, my friends. Too many. Too many folks are sick.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month!!! Go get your mammogram. Um, don't the mammograms also have radiation and many times are inaccurate? We have been lulled into a way of negative thinking in that we LOOK for breast cancer rather than prevent it. We adopt harmful methods in order to SPOT it. We are drugged into believing these illness happens, it's terrible but, hey, it happens.

What the f$%^?!!

This is nature gone berserk. I'm sorry.

What's the message here?? There is something in our world that is not flowing.

Is it the poisons like xenoestrogens (synthetic hormones) or MSG in our foods that is creating this energy blockage? Is it the rampant rape and abuse that go on w/o justice?? Is it the over reliance on television and media to debase our values and thwart our minds??? Is it the chronic greed that seeps into our blood stream, hardening our hearts so we don't reach out to our fellow human beings in need??? Is it the life-killing white sugar we eat every day??

You tell me.

What the hell is the problem ova' here??

What is G-d trying to tell us??!!

The holy sparks inside of us knows something is wrong. If we turn off the tv, log off facebook, put the beer bottle down, turn off the cell phone, we may feel the stirrings of these holy sparks.

Kind'a intimidating isn't it??

Yeah, I know.

It is much easier to remain in our comfort zone and refuse to listen and refuse to change. I totally relate to Pharaoh! What, get rid of slaves? Change the world order? Change my habits? Do G-d's will? What the hell??!! I can really relate....Can you?

Well, sorry Pharaoh, but Moses does save the Hebrew slaves. And they save themselves. Some of them did remain behind. The unknown was too scary. To change the status quo....no way.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm sick of Egypt. I'm sick of it.

I want freedom.

for myself and my family and friends

and the whole freakin' planet.

G-d bless!

Herb and Spice Awareness Month: Turmeric

Word on the street...

Turmeric is in!

Also known as curcurmin, this snazzy and jazzy, yellow-gold spice has been shown to have
antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer activities.

Do you hear music?

I sure do!

Music to my ears, baby! G-d is sooooo good.

You can buy the spice powdered and use it for cooking. You can also buy the actual root. Dr. Weil has a recipe for a turmeric tea that's a lot of fun. Boil some tumeric and other herb of your choice, add some honey or maple syrup and yeah, there'll be music...

G-d bless!!

Astragalus: Herb and Spice Awareness Month

In this crazy world, sometimes it's easy to think that illness and suffering runs rampant and there's nothing that can be done, and that G-d is completely out of the picture.

When in fact, G-d's nature is bursting with powerful subastances that are meant to heal us and keep us healthy.

The problem lies when our health vocabulary is limited, and we aren't aware that these G-dly gifts exist and are at our disposal.

What herb is on my mind? You guessed it: Astragalus (Huang Chi root)

Used frequently in Traditional Chinese Medicine, this herb has been known to boost the immune system. As an adaptogen, it helps the body to cope and adapt to various stresses. It strengthens digestion, improves adrenal gland function, and aids in heart health.

The sticks/pieces of the dried root can be added to soups or stews, or boiled to make a tea.

I throw it in a pot with a cinnamon stick, make myself a brew, say the blessing on the tea, and kick back with a good book. What an easy way to get healthy...

G-d bless!!

January is Herb and Spice Awareness Month

January is a time of beginnings for many people. And as the cold frost bites into our fingers and toes, we withdraw inside our homes and into the warm hearth. This is the moment of reflection.

Warmth, reflection, ah!

These are all great ingredients for a good herbal tea...

And G-d/Hashem has provided more ingredients for us to add. Various herbs and spices that warm the body, nutrients to build our system, and love to make us healthier beings.

So, this month is Herb and Spice Awareness!

And I want to start off with THYME. I had an annoying and persistent cough and remembered reading that thyme was excellent against coughs. So, after work, I headed for the local health food store. And that night I brewed myself a good strong cup of thyme and ginger tea, sweetened with maple syrup.

A delicious and effective brew if I do say so myself!!!

Thyme, which can also be used as a spice in cooking, has amazing health benefits:
it boosts the immune system, eases sore throats and coughs (can I get a witness? me!!), helps digestion, eases menstrual cramps, and prevents growth of microorganisms ie. ANTI-SEPTIC.

Veeery nice!!!

What else does Hashem have up 'His sleeve?!!'

G-d bless!!!
